COSH: Colorado Orthopedic and Surgical Hospital

Colorado Orthopedic and Surgical Hospital, or COSH, is a physician owned surgical hospital, a first of its kind to the Denver market and the realization of a 15 year vision of Dr. Jim Holmes.  Located in the heart of Downtown Denver’s hospital district, the joint venture between physicians, National Surgical Hospitals and Exempla Health Systems will provide 100 new jobs to the Denver economy. 

COSH will specialize in orthopedic, spine and pain management and will do so in a manner that will advance the standard for effective, efficient and compassionate patient care. 

Dr Jim Holmes envisioned a work environment where "people want to work and physicians "want to practice" and where all patients and their families receive the best possible healthcare "experience". COSH is putting that vision into practice by establishing means for effective communication between staff and continually developing evolving strategies that will address current and future patient needs.

It’s most innovative feature is the state of the art, multi media 30 seat conference room on the operating floor.  Users will have access to a world class education facility with special capabilities in the field’s of orthopedic, neurosurgical, spine and plastic surgery along with access to operating rooms for cadaver courses and a live surgery link via in-light cameras.

"Some local doctors have a vested financial interest in a $50 million, 75,000-square-foot specialty hospital scheduled to open in Denver this August...The 42-bed hospital will employ more than 100 people with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4-to-1, said Hayes, formerly an administrator for Englewood's Rocky Mountain Surgery Center. Dr. Ted Parks, chief of staff at the new hospital, said because the hospital specializes in one thing -- orthopedic surgery -- it will be easier to control overhead. "
